Over 5 fear dead as two rival cults clash in Ughelli

Over five persons have been reportedly feared dead in an alleged related cult clash between two rival groups in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
One of the deceased, popularly known as ‘One Chop’ was hacked to death and his corpse deposited at Okorodafe roundabout in Ughelli metropolis, while the other was killed and his corpse dropped at Ughelli main Market within the interval of two days.
It was gathered that, the clash is between two cult groups, Aro-Bagger and Mafaite.
Though it could not be ascertained if it clash was related to the recent clash between Ekiugbo and Otor-Iwhreko communities who are at loggerheads over the ownership of Ughelli main Market.
According to sources, “there has been battle of supremacy between both groups and in that process over five persons have been killed and many other received life threatening injuries sustained from gunshots, battle Axe and other dangerous weapons.
A senior police officer attached to the Ughelli Area Command who confirmed  d the incident said,  “This is one-off case of cult related activities
”The source said: “The person killed is a member of the Aro-Bagger cult group and he was shot dead by the Mafiate gang.
“We are certain that the Aro-Bagger gang would go out to avenge the killing, we are on the trail of anyone involved in the incident.”
